What’s this thing we hear about self care, and how do we go about it? I mean, we hear about it all the time, we make time to read about it and some of us may even set in blocks of time for it. For me personally, it’s been something I have been focusing on since early this year.
I have to admit, I often would go out of my way to plan for some “me time”, but on occasion, it has been much easier for me to put it off or replace it with some other high-value task. Sound familiar?
To make sure that I accomplish my weekly mantra of self-care, I’ve opted for DIY type spa-days at home. It really has been a way to treat my self. It also helps inspire me to carve out this special time that’s just set aside for me.
Here’s a sample of a few things I carve out time for, along with some of my favorite products this season.
Rest and relaxation is essential. Allow yourself some time for this in a comfy set of PJ’s of course!
Follow a relaxing start to the day with some essential facial cleansers.
If you’re more of an evening self-care gal, you’ll find the following to be perfect pick-me ups during the week. Talk about winding down after a long day of work.
I have been using these during my pregnancy to help with better sleep and I even use it as an exfoliater during my showers. The scent is unbelievably delicious.
Using the epsom salts above, a good foot soak will lead to some much needed TLC and of course end it with some nice oils and lotion and polish application. You won’t even have to leave your home for this special treat.
There are so many benefits to self-care. It can help you meditate and reflect. It improves your mood which in turn improves your relationships with those around you. Most importantly, it reminds you of your self-worth. You’re worth investing in. You don’t need to budget for spa days if it’s not in your immediate horizon, but I think most would agree that simple steps like this can help balance our health without breaking the bank.
