Planning your kids first visit to a baseball stadium is something that you should not take lightly. Afterall, this is their first introduction to a family favorite sports event and their impression will determine how much they favor returning for another experience or even yet – how enjoyable the experience is for the entire family. Our first Dodger game experience was amazing our daughter, four-years-old, loved every minute. I’m going to take you through how our family of three guaranteed this enjoyable and memorable experience.
Select Day Based on Game Times
I can’t emphasize this enough. Only parents know their children best but if you have an early napper or a kiddo that values an early bedtime, then you’ll definitely want to plan around that. Don’t risk it, there’s plenty of day or evening games to choose from. We personally chose a 7pm game because our kid does not mind staying up late.
Plan for Meals
A well-fed kid is a happy kid. No case of a melt-down wanted here! Since we had tickets for a 7pm game we actually stopped by McDonalds and picked up our meals so we wouldn’t have to worry about that at the stadium. That also meant we’d have time for snacks and drinks during game time.
Snacks, Take Them
Having a snack or candy that your kid loves does not hurt! It helps in case lines are long or even if you’re just looking to save some money. I always pack this and a bottle of water in my clear bag.
Contact Guest Services
I can’t stress this enough, this totally made our day. My husband reached out to them before our game (you can do this during the game too) and they had a welcome goodie bag for my daughter which they brought out to our seats! She received a first game certificate, buttons, pins and bobble heads. She was delighted and so were we. This cost absolutely nothing but a little bit of planning. This left my daughter with such a great memory (and keepsake) and we were sure to capture a picture of it for a life-long memory.
Such a Fun Family Memory
The goal for me is always to build quality family memories. And this one was one for the books! Visiting the Dodgers Stadium is an experience within itself, and you’ll want to give yourself some time to tour the grounds with your little one. We’re so much closer to the Angels Stadium in Orange County, but hands down a visit to LA is a much more memorable experience. I hope you find these tips helpful in planning your kids very first MLB game attendance.
