I love booking a dining reservation at Disneyland, I would much more rather spend my money on table-service restaurants than spending my time waiting in lines for the ever-popular seasonal foods that Disneyland promotes – and is actually quite popular for. We recently decided to try Carnation Cafe on Main Street as our dinner option and I have to say I loved our dining experience.
Indoor Dining
Weather in Southern California has been a bit unpredictable this year. It’s not a bad thing, but we’re definitely seeing much more rain and chilly weather. Getting a reservation the same week or even as a walk-up can be tough, so we were delighted when we walked up and learned that there was only a 20 minute wait time to be seated. And did I mention we would be seated indoors? Perfect for the chillier weather we had that day. You also have the option of sitting outdoors. Either way you can’t go wrong. While we waited for our table, we decided to visit a few stores on Main Street to pass time.
Real Food, Great Food Selection
I absolutely loved that we didn’t have to sacrifice our adult-palette for the sake of having kid-friendly food options. You can view menu options below, but I’ll list what we selected:
- My Four Year Old’s Order: Kids Meal Mac & Cheese, Seasonal Vegetable and Seasonal Fruit
- Husbands Order: Parmesan Toasted Patty Melt with Fries
- My Order: Walt’s Chili
The food was simply delicious and worth the money spent! I wasn’t too hungry for an entree and that bowl of chili was absolute perfection. Again, nice and cozy meal for our colder weather.
Nice Escape from the Hustle and Bustle of the Parks
If you are planning a full day visit to the park I would definitely place this restaurant on my best places to eat at Disneyland. Bonus- it’s kid approved! I loved that they had steamed veggies and fresh fruit as an option and it wasn’t just a few grapes like you see in some places. Just keep in mind that you won’t want to risk walking up and losing time waiting for a table, or worse yet being turned away – so make that reservation ahead of time. Overall, the charm of this cute little restaurant combined with the scrumptious and delightful American comfort food will have leave your entire family satisfied and rested, ready to take on the rest of the day or evening at the park.
