It only took us about three years, but we finally made it to our first family baseball game. We are Orange County locals and as much as my husband loves the Dodgers visiting the Angels Stadium is a much more viable option. I was a little nervous about how Mila would react in a loud sports venue, but we figured we’d give it a go. It was after all, Star Wars night!
Let me begin by saying I would only agree to an evening/late afternoon game. There was no way that I was going to want to battle the OC heat with a toddler in tow. So hubs came through and got us tickets to an evening game. Look at how great the skyline looked.
As with all that I do, I did some planning and research. I wanted to make sure that I packed as much as I could to make sure the game was enjoyable for all. After visiting the stadium website, these were the things I packed:
- Back Pack
- Toddler wipes
- Hand Sanitizer
- Snacks! Think fruit snacks, cotton candy, fruit. Throw it in a large Ziploc bag. These are great as they keep kids entertained
- Headphones for fireworks or when littles needs a break from the fanatic’s commotion.
- Water bottles
I highly recommend that you check the website for any stadium venue as requirements and rules can vary. Example here, kids under two did not require a ticket but that does mean they are going to have to lap it. Also “diaper bag” can vary. I took my regular activity backpack that I use for our recreation activities and they allowed that in.
Since it was an evening game we needed to make sure that Mila still had dinner. I wanted to avoid stadium lines, so I brought in a happy meal for her and she enjoyed her food after we checked in and before we headed to our seats. There’s tons of benches or patio table options that you will find around the stadium ~ so that shouldn’t be an issue.
This activity was a huge family win. Mila got to enjoy a new activity and she loved the fireworks. She didn’t even complain about the noise. We almost made it through the whole game and was glad we packed her PJ’s in the car. As always, I keep her portable potty in the car so that she can use it before we change her and drive off back home. This was a super simple family night out where everyone got to enjoy the weather, game and surroundings.
Here’s to planning your next family outing, cheers!
