It’s the end of January 2024 and the Rams football season is officially a wrap! Only a few more weeks until the Super Bowl. This season I attended a whopping one game which was due to a busy personal season of my life. But nevertheless, I’m so glad I squeezed one in. These days are so much fun. We usually tailgate and arrive at the stadium parking lot by 9am to set up. This year’s visit was a little different since we didn’t officially have a full-on tailgate, but still managed to have loads of fun.
Arriving Early
No matter what game you plan to attend, if you plan to tailgate, you should know that only designated areas allow for it. Do your research beforehand. Although we knew it would just be the two of us (hubs and I) , attending this game (we usually go in a group of four minimum) we had our tailgate parking pass reserved and knew we’d bring in takeout and have a drink before heading into the game. Arriving early just helps with traffic and avoids rushing. We like to leave the tail-gate area with enough time to hit the stadium shops to purchase team merch.
What to Wear
I highly recommend wearing comfortable shoes that you can walk around in all day. Football games are long and you’ll be walking around the stadium to visit concession stands, the team store, and restrooms. I also recommend dressing comfortably. Again just the walk from the stadium to the parking lot is a good distance so you want to be comfortable in what you’re wearing. I always rock team merch because you simply have to represent your team when watching them play!
What to Eat & Drink
Truth be told, I hardly never drink alcohol at the stadium. We usually splurge on tailgate parking passes and drink beforehand to enjoy the team fanbase atmosphere. So, if I do purchase a drink, it’s usually a fountain drink. Concessions are always pricey but this last time we opted for the deluxe/loaded nachos and they were well worth it! If you don’t like the options you’re seeing, keep walking around the stadium. Concessions vary from stand to stand.
Plan to Make a Day Out of the Experience
Realistically speaking, you’ll need to know that you’re going to make a day out of this experience. By the time the game is over- like the one we attended, the game was over by 4pm ish and we were home by 5pm ish. My best recommendation is to get some cute sports merch for your team, plan your outfit and your day so it’s the best it can be. I always like to plan for time to hit up the team store and can easily spend 30 minutes in there. I walked out with two bags this go around but only because I hadn’t been there all season.
Lines at the team store get long, so don’t underestimate this part.
Lastly, the best part is that this is an activity that my husband and I get to enjoy together. We count this as our date when it’s just the two of us. So if you’re on the fence about ever attending a sports venue with your husband, this is your sign!
