March was a busy month for me that involved some business travel. As usual, I’m bringing you along with where I stayed and letting you know whether or not my hotel stay met my expectations. I had a three-day stay at the Homewood Suites by Hilton in San Diego. This location was in the downtown area and right across from the Embarcadero. Beautiful harbor views in fantastic Spring weather!
This hotel has great customer service at check in. They quickly recognized my Hilton Honors Diamond status and provided me with my complimentary items upon arriving. The signage throughout the hotel made it easy to navigate and find things like the gym, pool and breakfast area.
The average cost for this hotel is well worth the price. You get a studio like hotel room that includes a kitchenette and small living area space. Great if you plan to spend time in your hotel room and order to dine in. These options allowed me to invest my travel time wisely by being able to use amenities such as the onsite gym.
Daily breakfast is offered at this hotel, while I had to depart the hotel early on most days it was beneficial that they had grab and go items like fruit and bars. The hot breakfast items looked appetizing, and the dining area was organized neatly.
I already mentioned that I made use of the gym, but it really was conveniently located, and it had a great view of the pool and busy downtown street area. The equipment was clean and modern. Towels, water and hand sanitizer were plentiful.
While I didn’t make time for the pool, it was located facing the street and had a nice view. I saw solo travelers and families making use of the pool and jacuzzi tub in the evenings while I was at the gym.
The proximity of this hotel to Downtown San Diego was great. It allowed for exploring and dining in the downtown scene, but your room suite also provides great respite from the hustle and bustle. One thing to note is that you will also be close to the airport so you will often hear the takeoff of airplanes at all hours.
As for parking, it’s valet only as most hotels in this area but service was amazing. My car was often delivered within minutes of me requesting my car and it made for easier work travel for me considering I was traveling to different sites and locations daily. It was so nice to be able to just drop off your car once arriving to your hotel.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling for business that wants that homelike feeling and ability to disconnect from the downtown scene. The hotel grounds felt completely safe and easy to navigate. I also feel comfortable recommending it for families as the spacious rooms and studio like feeling with a kitchenette and dining area can easily accommodate a family with young kids. Parents can quickly get through down town and make a quick exit to find respite back in their hotel quarters.
I’m looking forward to publishing a few more hotel reviews this year! Happy planning!
