Bluey at Disneyland: What to Expect + Helpful Tips for Families
If you’re planning a visit to Disneyland with kids right now, chances are you’ve heard about the Bluey Best Day Ever show. As a working mom visiting with my six-year-old on opening day, I’m sharing exactly what to expect—what worked, what didn’t, and how to plan your day so it actually feels like the best day ever.
This guide is designed to help you maximize your time, reduce stress, and make the most of your visit—especially if you’re aiming for a smooth, family-friendly Disneyland experience.
I’d also like to add that these are helpful tips for parents visiting Disneyland during Spring Break or Summer Vacation and will also come into use for any new future Disney entertainment show releases similar to this one. There was so much anticipation for the arrival of Bluey that parents made sure to arrive early to guarantee a seat for their little ones!
Arrival Time at Disneyland: Go Early (Here’s Why)
If you’re hoping to experience the Bluey show without stress, arriving early is key. We recommend getting to Disneyland Park at least 45 minutes to one hour before show time. Although lines were long on the first weekend the show released it has been reported that lines are much more manageable during the week. Needless to say, if you want to catch this show it doesn’t hurt to arrive 30 to 45 minutes early.

Why this matters:
- The Bluey show is extremely popular
- Lines form quickly—even for later showtimes
- You’ll want buffer time to navigate the park with kids
Pro Tip: Rope drop + Bluey planning = less stress later in the day.
How to Find Bluey Showtimes Using the Disneyland App
Before heading to the show, open the Disneyland App.
Here’s how to use it:
- Search “Bluey” in the app
- Tap the entertainment listing
- Check showtimes and location
- Plan your day around the show you want
This is essential—showtimes can fill up quickly, and you’ll want to build your day around it.
Line Strategy: Show Up 45 Minutes Early (Minimum)
This is one of the biggest takeaways from our experience:
👉 Plan to line up at least 45 minutes before the show.
Even on day one, the line built fast—and families who arrived later had limited seating options or were asked to wait for the next show time. You want to think of this as lining up for a ride or securing your seat for any other Disney parade.
What to Expect in Line:
- Minimal shade in certain areas
- Lots of families with young kids
- Long waits but high excitement
What to Pack for Waiting in Line (Don’t Skip This)
This is where your day can either feel smooth—or stressful.
Must-Have Line Essentials:
- Snacks (easy, non-messy options)
- Drinks (hydration is key)
- A hat
- Small games or toys (think travel toys or cards)
- Umbrella for shade ☀️ (we wish we had brought one!)
- Cooling towel (this helped a lot)
- Portable fan (optional but helpful)

We brought snacks and drinks, which made a huge difference. Having this clear lunch bag packed with ice packs to keep snacks and beverages cool helped us so much! Not to mention having a clear bag helps move security lines move so much quicker when entering the parks! We were able to relax, keep our daughter entertained, and enjoy the wait instead of feeling overwhelmed.
As mentioned, I wish we would have brought a small umbrella for shade.
Mobile Ordering Tip: Edelweiss Snacks Is a Win
We decided to mobile order from Edelweiss Snacks before getting in line.
What we got:
- Garlic cheesy brat (perfect to share)

This was a smart move because:
- We avoided long food lines later
- We were able to eat comfortably while waiting
👉 Eating in line = time saved later.
The Bluey Show Experience: What It’s Really Like
Once you’re inside, grab your seat as soon as possible. I highly recommend not getting distracted by the food and Bluey Merch displayed.

The show itself:
- Fun, engaging, and perfect for younger kids
- Interactive and high-energy
- A true highlight for Bluey fans
Honest Take:
It’s not like what influencers showed during preview events. Opening day felt less structured and less “extra” than expected—but still enjoyable.

And most importantly…
💙 My six-year-old truly believed it was the best day ever.

After the Show: Be Prepared for Food Chaos
This is where things got a little tricky. You can find all the Bluey themed food at Troubadour Tavern. As things stand, Troubadour is roped off and you can only queue for food if you have waited to see or enter the Bluey show. This means even if all you want is the food, you have to wait in line with everyone else who is in line to enter the theater.

After the show:
- Food lines were 45–90 minutes long
- Mobile ordering was not available
- Seating was extremely limited

What We Experienced:
We tried… and consider must-try’s if you are visiting Disneyland …
- Bluey baked potato
- Watermelon ice block – (Best iced drink at Disneyland’s Troubadour Tavern! )
- Mini hot dog kids meal (came with applesauce, Cuties orange, and a drink)

We were lucky to find a place to sit—but many families weren’t. There just isn’t enough seating available. Many are left to eat while standing.

👉 Bring your patience here. This was the most challenging part of the experience.
Bluey Merch: What We Bought + Where to Find It
Merchandise was another surprise.
Inside the Bluey area:
- Bluey Disneyland apparel (not impressed)
- Bluey blind box special release toys
- Bluey Sipper
What we purchased:
- Bluey sipper (super cute and worth it!)

We had to go to a food cart outside the theater area, located in front of It’s a Small World, to find the Bluey popcorn bucket—it was not available at Troubadour where we expected. But this is a great Disneyland Souvenir that I highly recommend.

Missing Activities: What Influencers Didn’t Show
One of the biggest differences from what we expected:
We didn’t see many of the post-show activities that influencers had talked about.
Since we attended on opening day, this could improve over time—but as of now:
- Limited interactive activities after the show
- Less “linger time” than expected
How Much Time to Plan for Bluey at Disneyland
We dedicated about 4 hours total to this experience:
- Waiting in line
- Watching the show
- Getting food
- Finding merch
Is It Worth It?
✔️ YES if:
- You’re a Magic Key holder (easy to return another day)
- Your child loves Bluey
⚠️ Maybe not if:
- It’s your first Disneyland trip
- You’re trying to do everything in one day
Final Thoughts: Is Bluey Best Day Ever Worth It?
Overall, we loved the experience—but it wasn’t perfect.
What We Loved:
- The show itself
- Seeing our child so happy
- The family-friendly atmosphere
What Could Improve:
- Food availability and wait times
- Seating areas
- Post-show activities
Still, the joy on my daughter’s face made it 100% worth it.
