Best Ice Cream in Disneyland Park (and What to Skip!)
A Family-Friendly Guide for Sweet Treats + Smart Planning Tips
If you’re planning a magical day at Disneyland Resort, there’s one thing you absolutely can’t skip—ice cream. Whether you’re visiting with kids, cooling off in the California sun, or just treating yourself (because, yes, moms deserve it too), knowing where to find the best ice cream in Disneyland can save you time, money, and meltdowns.
This guide breaks down the top ice cream spots inside Disneyland, what’s actually worth your time, and what you might want to skip—especially if you’re navigating the parks with little ones. Plus, I’ll share how to plan your day efficiently so you’re not stuck in long lines when all you want is a quick sweet treat.
🍦 Why Ice Cream Is a Must at Disneyland
Let’s be real—Disneyland days are long, busy, and often hot. Ice cream isn’t just a treat—it’s a strategic break.
Here’s why it matters:
- Helps kids reset during overstimulation
- Gives you a quick energy boost
- Doubles as a memorable “Disney moment”
- Easy to grab without committing to a full sit-down meal
But not all ice cream spots are created equal.
🍍 1. DOLE Whip at the Tiki Room (A Disneyland Classic)
📍 Located near: Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room
If you’ve been researching Disneyland treats at all, you’ve probably heard of DOLE Whip—and for good reason.
This iconic pineapple soft serve is one of the most refreshing treats in the park, especially on a warm Southern California day.
Why It’s a Must-Try:
- Dairy-free option (great for sensitive tummies)
- Light, refreshing, and not overly sweet
- Easy to pair with a break inside the Tiki Room show

Mom Tip:
Grab your DOLE Whip and head straight into the Tiki Room for a shaded, seated break. It’s one of the best “reset spots” in Disneyland for both kids and adults.
Best for:
- Midday cool-down
- Kids who don’t want heavy desserts
- Parents needing a quiet moment
🍨 2. Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor (Main Street Favorite)
📍 Located on: Main Street, U.S.A.
The Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor is hands-down one of the best ice cream stops in Disneyland—especially for families with younger kids.
What Makes It Special:
- Classic, nostalgic ice cream parlor vibes
- Generous portion sizes
- Reliable, simple flavors kids actually like
What to Order:
👉 A single scoop is more than enough for most kids (and honestly, even adults)

Why Parents Love It:
- No overwhelming menu decisions
- Quick service compared to other dessert spots
- Central location makes it easy to fit into your day
Mom Tip:
Stop here early afternoon before parade crowds build. Lines can get long in the evening.

🚫 3. Skip This: Ghirardelli Soda Fountain in DCA
📍 Located in: Disney California Adventure Park
Let’s talk honestly—because planning a Disneyland day means knowing what’s not worth your time.

While Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop sounds like a dream, it often doesn’t live up to expectations for busy families.
Why You Might Want to Skip It:
- Limited ice cream options compared to expectations
- Long lines, especially in the afternoon
- Seating is almost always crowded
- Takes too much time for what you get
Better Alternative:
Stick with quick-service ice cream in Disneyland Park where you’ll get more value and less stress.
🍦 Best Ice Cream Options: Easy to Eat While in Line
You will also find several mobile carts parked throughout the park that sell ice cream cookies or my favorite, the Mickey Ears chocolate covered vanilla ice-cream.
The Classic Mickey’s Premium Ice Cream bar consists of vanilla light ice cream shaped like Mickey Mouse ears, coated in a crispy chocolate shell. This is perfect for little kids that enjoy ice-cream and may be moving around Disneyland in a stroller. It’s also perfect for parents to use this treat-time to finding some shade and enjoying some rest while little ones enjoy their special treat!
My favorite spot to pick up Ice Cream is in Fantasyland as I’m heading out of Alice in Wonderland or Tea Cups rides. Ice-cream push carts can be found right before It’s a Small World.
You can also find the Bluey themed Watermelon Ice Block at Troubadour Tavern in Fantasyland. They released this in Spring 2025 and it’s delicious!

🍦 Tips for Getting Ice Cream Without the Stress
After multiple Disneyland trips (and plenty of trial and error), here are my best mom-approved tips:
⏰ 1. Time It Right
- Go before peak hours (2–5 PM)
- Avoid right after parades or fireworks
📍 2. Stay in Disneyland Park When Possible
- More efficient layout
- Better quick-service options
- Less walking back and forth with tired kids
👨👩👧 3. Keep It Simple
Kids don’t need elaborate sundaes—they just want ice cream. Simple orders = faster lines + happier families.
🎒 4. Plan It Into Your Day
This is where most families go wrong—they don’t plan snack breaks, and everything turns chaotic.

As a working mom who doesn’t want to waste time in the parks, I plan intentional snack breaks—including ice cream.
